You’ve heard it said that it takes a village to raise a child, right? Well, no where is that more true than in the life of a foster child. From doctors and therapists to special education teachers and behavioral specialists, the foster family village is crowded!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: the most important thing a foster parent can do is give their foster child(ren) a safe, stable, consistent, loving, and predictable environment. But the second most important thing a foster parent can do for their foster child(ren) is to be their advocate.
Building your ‘Foster Family Village’ is your intentional effort to advocate for your child(ren) and proactively put people in place around your foster child who will collectively contribute to that child’s flourishing.
I’m in the middle of a new YouTube series in which I explore some of the many people who will “live” in your foster family’s village. Check out Parts 1 and 2 below!
